Most of the guesthouses and B&Bs are to be found to the east and west of the city centre, but if you want to be smack in the centre of town, then try the Auld Steeple Guest House 94 Nethergate, Tel/Fax. 200302. 11 rooms. In the east, heading towards Broughty Ferry, is Aberlaw, 230 Broughty Ferry Rd, Tel/Fax. 566563. There are lots of places along the Arbroath Rd, including Anlast, No 379, Tel. 456710; and Ash Villa, No 216, Tel. 450381.

There's also a good selection of guesthouses/B&Bs in the West End, including Bracklinn, 5 Fort St (off Richmond Terr), Tel/Fax. 566563. The University of Dundee offers B&B accommodation (shared bathrooms) from Jun-Sep in its halls of residence at West Park, 319 Perth Rd, Tel. 647181, g.anderson@dundee.ac.uk. It also has self-catering flats for weekly rental.

There's a wide range of places to stay in Broughty Ferry. There's a campsite at Carnoustie, 10 miles east of Dundee city centre: Woodlands Caravan Park, Tel. 01241-854430, which is open Apr-Oct.
