The tour

From the start point by Edinburgh Castle the tour heads out of the city to the unassuming little village of Roslin, site of Rosslyn Chapel, the 'Chapel of Codes', with its Templar and Freemasonry associations; featured in Dan Brown's blockbusting novel The Da Vinci Code.

You'll visit the mystical and mysterious Rosslyn Glen, the ancient castle of the same name, ancestral home of the Sinclairs, and nearby battlefield where a Scots army defeated three English armies in the same day!

Leaving Rosslyn the tour continues into the heart of the Scottish Borders, an area rich in hills, valleys, rivers and moor-land, as well as the traditional home to Scottish rugby. You'll travel to the historic town of Melrose, birthplace of the game of Rugby Sevens, and location of Melrose Abbey, said to be the burial place of the casket thought to contain the heart of Robert The Bruce, and founded in the year 660. Here you'll stop for lunch and have time to explore Melrose and its Abbey.

On the return journey, you'll travel north to Pencaitland  where you'll have the chance to visit Glenkinchie Distillery - a very special malt whisky distillery, because it's one of the few Lowland Malt distilleries - for an optional 'Tour and a Taste' before returning to Edinburgh.

This tour is run by Timberbush Tours, who have been awarded 5 stars from the Scottish Tourist Board for their tours. Please note the tour price does NOT include entry to Rosslyn Chapel or the distillery.
